Oct. 11--Gallup and NCC Survey

1.  Show attached slide:
2.  Students will complete Gallup survey (15 minutes--1:00-1:15)

3.  Students will then complete short NCC survey (5 minutes--1:15-1:20)

  • Have students go to link below for NCC--Northland Career Center
  • On the left red column--site shortcuts--student need click the link:  "8th, 9th, 10th grade interest survey"
  • Complete this survey
4. As students finish surveys, talk to each student about grades and upcoming conferences

Grade Conversations will include students answering these 3 questions:

What do you need to do before P/T conferences? 
What do you need to work on?
What are your celebrations? 

Oct. 4--NO Advisory today

Since there are multiple calendars out there with conflicting info about the advisory schedule, there is NO advisory this week.  On Friday, follow the assembly bell schedule, take advisory attendance, and escort your advisory to the assembly.  Thank you.

Sept. 20--Link Lesson

Picture Day!  Organize your freshmen group PLUS Link Leaders for a picture.  Link Leaders will also lead a lesson.  If they all else fails, choose an activity from the Advisory Choice Tab on our Blogspot.

Sept. 13--Pre ACT

Freshmen will complete paperwork necessary for the Pre-ACT exam.
Please show them the attached google slide presentation.

August 25 - Diversity Lesson

The links for the diversity lesson are below.  Our department plans to send an e-mail to all staff on Wednesday to check mailboxes fordiversity lesson supplies.  The supplies will be the following;
  • Directions for the lesson
  • Large letters 
  • Small letters for each student
We will also be sending the link to the Google presentation  so they have time to review this before advisory.  You will quickly see that the advisors will need to prepare for this lesson in advance.

    • You do not have to include your name on the paper, but each student will complete their impact statement to turn in. The IMPACT statements will be reviewed for approval and then put on display in our building
    • Like art? draw your name or the work IMPACT in block letters and inside the letters include words that describe how you will make an impact
    • Not an artist? randomly brainstorm or word list how you will make an impact
    • Advisors turn in statements in marked "IMPACTMAKER" box near faculty mailboxes

        • Tell students to get out cell phones if they have them!
        • Divide students into 2 equal lines, parallel to and facing one another so that each student is paired with one another
        • Spin the wheel, for 90 seconds students will discuss with their partner the topic the wheel lands on (BOTH students get to talk/share with one another for only 90 seconds total)
        • After 90 seconds, have students in 1 line rotate to the right one person while the other line remains still
        • Spin the wheel for a new topic (repeat this process until students end up with their original partner)

The advisory teacher will support you in a variety of ways from academic support to building relationships as well as connecting you to community involvement and events.
